About the Company and its Founder

Quantum Computer Technology Finland Oy (QCT.fi) is a Finnish limited-liability company based in Espoo, Finland. Founded in 2018, the company operates in the field of information technology, and especially advanced computing. Its work is connected to the rapidly developing world of quantum technology, where scientific expertise, software, computing and practical technology development come together.

The company was founded by Mikko Möttönen, a Professor of Quantum Technology, innovator, and entrepreneur. Möttönen is an Academy Professor at Aalto University and VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, and his research interests include quantum physics, quantum devices and quantum computing. He is also known as a Co-Founder of IQM Quantum Computers, one of Europe’s leading quantum computing companies and a Co-Founder of QMill, quantum-algorithm company focusing on near-term quantum-advantage algorithms.

Through QCT.fi, Möttönen brings together deep scientific understanding and practical technology insight. The company reflects his long-term work in quantum research, advanced computing, and the development of new technology-based solutions. Its purpose is to support the quantum ecosystem and organizations that need specialist knowledge in complex and future-oriented technology topics.

Professor Möttönen is also the Founder and Director of the Quantum Computing and Devices Lab that is still operating at Aalto University educating the next-generation quantum-technology talent. In addition to IQM and QMill, the QCD alumni have established the following companies: Quanscient, a quantum software company for physics simulations, and Artic Instruments, a quantum hardware company focusing on quantum-limited microwave amplifiers.
